Healthy plants and proper distillation produce these superior essential oils with powerful benefits. The life force of the plants, these oils have many beneficial and protective antiviral, antibacterial and anti fungal properties. Some also soothe inflammation, relax tense muscles or enhance breathing.

Essential oils are being used to treat physical, psychological and energetic imbalances and they have become very popular as interest in self-care and natural products have increased.

Basil can be relaxing to exercise-strained muscles. It may also be used to soothe insect bites when applied topically. Beneficial for mental fatigue, stimulates and sharpens the sense of smell.

Bergamot has been used for hundreds of years to help oily complexions. It soothes insect bites and has about 300 chemical constituents that contribute refreshing, mood-lifting qualities. Bergamot is responsible for the distinctive flavor of Earl Grey Tea.

Chamomile, Roman is calming and counters restlessness and tension. It is used cosmetically in Europe for the skin.

Cinnamon Bark has been produced in Sri Lanka for over 2,000 years and is an important ingredient in the Thieves blend. Cinnamon bark scores 103,448 on the antioxidant ORAC scale.

Cistus or Labdanum comes from a rose that has a soft, honey-like scent. Cistus has been studied for its effects on the regeneration of cells.

Coriander & Dill oils have each been researched in animal studies at Cairo University for their supportive effects on pancreatic function.

Elemi belongs to the same botanical family as frankincense and myrrh. Elemi is highly regarded today for soothing muscles pain associated with exercise and for protecting the skin.

Frankincense is considered a holy anointing oil and has been used in religious ceremonies for thousands of years. Frankincense is now being researched and used therapeutically in European and American hospitals. Frankincense is stimulating and elevating to the mind and helps in over coming stress and despair.

Geranium has been used for centuries in skin care. Its strength lies in its ability to revitalize tissue. It is excellent for the skin, and helps release negative memories.

Ginger is used to to reduce pain and combat nausea, vomiting, or dizziness associated with motion sickness and has been studied for its gentle, stimulating effects.

Grapefruit is rich in the powerful antioxidant d-limonene. Diffuse for a refreshing, uplifting aroma. Like many cold-pressed citrus oils, it has unique fat-dissolving characteristics.

Helichrysum has been studied in Europe for regenerating tissue. It supports healthy skin, nerves, and circulation. Helichrysum scores 17,430 on the antioxidant ORAC scale.

Jasmine is an absolute extracted from the flower and is an essence rather than an essential oil. It is good for sensitive skin and can also be uplifting and stimulating.

Lavender is the most versatile of all essential oils. Therapeutic-grade lavender has been highly regarded for the skin. The French scientist René Gattefossé was the first to discover these properties when he severely burned his hands in a laboratory explosion. Lavender has also been clinically evaluated for its relaxing effects. It may be used to cleanse cuts, bruises, and skin irritations. The fragrance is calming, relaxing, and balancing.

Lemon contains 68 percent d-limonene, a powerful antioxidant. It may serve as an insect repellent and beneficial for the skin.

Marjoram is used for relieving sore muscles after exercise and supporting the respiratory system. Marjoram assists in calming the nerves.

Melaleuca often called "Tea Tree Oil." Young Living’s melaleuca has high levels of terpinenol, the key active constituent.

Melissa may benefit the skin, according to several studies. The plant is very gentle and delicate and helps to bring out those characteristics in an individual.

Myrrh is use for cracked skin. It has one of the highest levels of sesquiterpenes, a class of compounds that has direct effects on the hypothalamus, pituitary, and amygdala, the seat of our emotions.

Nutmeg helps increase energy and overcome nervous fatigue. It also helps to support the nervous system. Historically, it has been used to benefit circulation and soothe muscle pain following exercise.

Orange is rich in the powerful antioxidant d-limonene. It also brings peace and happiness to the mind and body.

Oregano was recently shown in laboratory research conducted at Weber State University, Ogden, Utah, to have a 99 percent rate of reducing airborne bacteria.

Palo Santo is also known as "Holy Wood," and can be worn as a perfume to release negative energy.

Patchouli is very beneficial for the skin, helping to reduce a wrinkled or chapped appearance. It is a general tonic that helps the digestive system.

Peppermint is one of the oldest and most highly regarded as an anti-inflammatory and soothing digestion . Scientists have researched peppermint’s role in improving taste and smell when inhaled; and directly affects the brain’s satiety center, which triggers a sensation of fullness after meals.

Rose has a beautiful fragrance that is intoxicating and aphrodisiac-like. Rose helps bring balance and harmony. It is stimulating and elevating to the mind, creating a sense of well-being.

Sage has been used traditionally in Europe for the skin. It has been recognized for its ability to strengthen the vital centers and support metabolism. Sage may also help in coping with despair and mental fatigue.

Sandalwood has been researched in Europe for its ability to oxygenate part of the brain known as the pineal gland, the seat of our emotions. The pineal gland is responsible for releasing melatonin, which enhances deep sleep. Sandalwood is similar to frankincense oil in its support of nerves and circulation. It was used traditionally for skin revitalization, yoga, and meditation.

Spikenard was highly regarded in India as a perfume, medicinal herb, and skin tonic. It was used by Mary of Bethany to anoint the feet of Jesus before the Last Supper. This relaxing, soothing oil helps nourish and regenerate the skin.

Vetiver has a heavy, earthy fragrance similar to patchouli with a touch of lemon. Vetiver oil is psychologically grounding, calming, and stabilizing. One of the oils that is highest in sesquiterpenes, it may help us cope with stress and recover from emotional trauma and shock.

Ylang Ylang may be extremely effective in calming and bringing about a sense of relaxation. This native flower of Madagascar and the Reunion Islands is symbolic of love, and the fragrant, pale yellow petals are often strewn across the marriage bed.
